Jesse Hlebo resides and works in Brooklyn, NY
Jesse has exhibited and curated shows internationally. Most recently Jesse organized and conducted a performance that occured at both Monster Island Basement in Brooklyn and MoMA PS1 during the 2010 NY Art Book Fair, entitled Certain Distinctions. The piece was based on the structure of a gradient and featured five musicians and five dancers.
In September 2010, Jesse curated a small press library at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts as well as an accompanied series of Showpaper posters, featuring work by artists Grant Willing, Arthur Ou, Katja Mater, and Borden Capalino. In March 2010, Jesse curated the inaugural MtyMx All Ages Art and Music Festival in Monterrey, Mexico. Jesse is the editor of _ Quarterly, an experimental publication, and is also the founder of Swill Children, a small press and record label focusing on the space of integration between limited physical objects and the internet.
In early February 2011, Jesse will be curating a small press exhibition entitled ordered groupings, inheritence at the Kyber Institute of Contemporary Arts in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In March 2011, Jesse will have a solo exhibition at Printed Matter in New York City.
